Chatsapp Messenger is designed for private communication between users. We collect only the information needed to provide messaging, calling, profile, contact-discovery, media sharing, status, and account features.
1. Information We Collect
Depending on how you use Chatsapp Messenger, the app may collect or process the following information:
- Phone number and authentication data: used to create, verify, and secure your Chatsapp account.
- Profile information: display name, about text, profile photo, online status, and last seen information.
- Contacts: if you grant permission, the app reads phone numbers from your device contacts only to show which saved contacts are available on Chatsapp.
- Messages and chat metadata: message text, sender/receiver identifiers, timestamps, delivery/read status, chat IDs, and forwarded message data.
- Media and attachments: photos, videos, audio files, documents, voice messages, and profile/status images that you choose to upload or send.
- Status updates: text, image, video, or audio status content that you post, along with timestamps and viewer-related metadata where supported.
- Location: if you choose to share location, the app may access your device location and send it as a map link to the selected chat.
- Calling data: call channel identifiers, participants, call type, and call logs needed for audio/video call features.
- Device and notification data: Firebase Cloud Messaging token and basic device/session data needed for notifications and app reliability.
2. How We Use Information
- To verify users through phone number login.
- To deliver messages, attachments, status updates, voice messages, and call features.
- To show delivery and read receipts, online presence, and last seen indicators.
- To match your phone contacts with registered Chatsapp users after you allow contact access.
- To store and display your profile photo, name, about text, and status updates.
- To improve app performance, security, abuse prevention, and user experience.
3. Firebase, Agora and Third-Party Services
Chatsapp Messenger may use trusted service providers to operate core features:
- Firebase Authentication: phone number verification and user login.
- Cloud Firestore / Realtime Database: user profiles, chats, messages, status metadata, presence, and app data.
- Firebase Storage: uploaded images, videos, audio, documents, profile photos, and status media.
- Firebase Cloud Messaging: notification delivery.
- Agora: live audio and video calling functionality.
These providers process data according to their own security and privacy practices. Chatsapp uses them only to provide app functionality.
4. Contacts Permission
If you allow contact access, Chatsapp reads contact phone numbers so the app can show only people saved in your phonebook who are also Chatsapp users. We do not sell your contacts. Contact access can be disabled at any time from your device settings.
5. Media, Compression and Storage
When you send photos or upload profile/status images, the app may compress them to improve speed and reduce storage usage. Videos and audio may be uploaded as selected by you unless additional compression/transcoding is enabled. Do not upload content you do not have the right to share.
6. Location Sharing
Location is shared only when you intentionally choose the location attachment option. Chatsapp sends location as a map link to the selected recipient or group. You should share location only with people you trust.
7. Status Updates
Status updates are intended to be temporary and may be visible to users according to app settings and implementation. Status content may include text, photo, video, or audio selected by you. You are responsible for the status content you post.
8. Data Retention and Deletion
- Messages and media may remain stored until deleted by users or removed according to app rules.
- Status updates may be removed after the configured visibility period or manually deleted by the posting user.
- You may request account/data deletion by contacting support using the details below.
9. Security
We use Firebase and platform security controls to help protect user data. However, no internet service can guarantee absolute security. Keep your device, phone number, and login OTP secure. Never share OTPs with anyone.
10. Children’s Privacy
Chatsapp Messenger is not intended for children under the age required by applicable law to use messaging services without parental consent. If you believe a child has provided personal information without proper consent, contact us for review.
11. User Responsibilities and Acceptable Use
By using Chatsapp Messenger, you agree that you will not:
- Send illegal, abusive, threatening, hateful, harassing, or harmful content.
- Impersonate another person or misrepresent your identity.
- Share private information, media, or location of others without permission.
